About the Old Post Office pub and restaurant in Wallingford Oxfordshire.jpg

Welcome to the Old Post Office

Overlooking Wallingford’s market square, the Grade II listed building in St Martin's Street that was once home to the town’s prominent post office, first re-opened its doors as an Oakman Inn in 2009. In addition to bearing the same name, The Old Post Office features many of the original elements, including the Victorian counter, and the traditional red post box situated in our front courtyard.

Open daily from 8am, we serve locally and regionally sourced food with a Mediterranean influence in our large, elegant open plan dining room. Guests can watch as our chefs prepare our extensive and varied menu in our open kitchen, which at its heart features a charcoal-fuelled Josper grill and wood-fired pizza oven.

And whether you’re tempted by traditional home comforts of slow roasted duck leg, and fish pie, or prefer to indulge in freshly made Calzone, and king prawn and arrabbiata tagliatelle, you’ll find everything cooked to perfection. Most dietary requirements are met with ease, and families can choose from dishes that go beyond the standard fare for children.

Throughout The Old Post Office, our interior is welcoming and spacious, with snug bar areas and a comfortable lounge. Our central location makes us a hive of local activity that’s as suited to couples as it is to colleagues enjoying a drink after work. In addition to donating 25p to the Woodland Trust for every 12 hour roasted pork belly we sell, we are proud sponsors of Wallingford Rugby Club.

What Our Guests Say

The Oakman Inns Family

Oakman Inns & Restaurants was founded in 2005. Our vision was to create an environment where like-mined people could come and enjoy some great food and drinks whilst catching up with friends, family, neighbours and colleagues.

We quickly won a place in the hearts and minds of local people through our support of local sports teams and community events. Then we started winning awards too. Today we work hard to replicate this recipe in each and every new pub that we open.
